Biography Cesar Antonio Sanchez

Cesar Antonio Sanchez is an exciting opera tenor praised for his heroic intensity and rich passionate voice.  Mr. Sanchez was bestowed the title of “Ambassador ofthe Arts”from the Mexican government and has traveled and sung in the United States, Spain, Italy, Germany and Romania as well as his Mexican homeland. He believes that sharing the arts is vital to international good will and that, “Music is the universal language that crosses all borders and penetrates the heart!”

Mr. Sanchez began his musical studies as a boy chorister at The Church of the Sacred Heart in Tijuana, Mexico.  Later he was awarded a scholarship to the prestigious Escuela Superior de Musical Sacra in Guadalajara, Mexico. Further scholarships led to Salzburg, Austria at the famous Mozarteum University Conservatory ofMusic.

Among the roles Mr. Sanchez has sung are Alfredo (La Traviata), Manrico (Il Trovatore), Calaf (Turandot) and Turridu (Cavalleria Rusticana) and Macduff (Macbeth). Tampa Bay Times review of the opera Tosca – “Cesar Antonio Sanchez supplies everything you would want in a leading man. The tenor is a combustible mass of inspiration and pain, his voice letting off an immediate shot to the top balcony of Morsani Hall and never letting up”.

Cesar has been a featured soloist at “Christmas at the Cathedral” presented by the Cathedral Choirs and Orchestra under the direction of Dr. John Romeri.  A personal highlight for Cesar was also singing the famous Missa Criollaby Ariel Ramirez.  Missa Criollawas the first Roman Catholic Mass written in Spanish not Latin. The music combines both indigenous instruments and rhythms from Latin America. Missa Criollais often performed at the Vatican and the world over on December 12, the feast day of “Our Lady of Guadalupe”- the Patroness of the Americas.

The heroic tenor voice is always remembered for the greatest arias and songs – such as Nessun dormafrom Turandot, E lucevan le stele’ from Tosca, Che gelida maninafrom La Boheme, and the great songs “O Sole Mio”,and “Funiculi, Funicula” to name a few.  Come ready to smile, to tap your toe, and to enjoy the great music!
